A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
possibly Ugyops sp.
Small hopper larvae (?) to 5mm body length. It just looked like dirt on a leaf, but on closer inspection it revealed a little hopper. Looks like he has a parasite on his back as well.
Spotted in forest on the slopes of Mt Pauanui, New Zealand
The parasite is the larva of a dryinid wasp, quite possibly Bocchus thorpei - thank you for your feedback 'stho002'
No we don't have a name as yet. Someone on Project Noah will have a suggestion soon. One thing about PN is that we are always learning! Welcome to Project Noah Petrice!
