Unknown hopper

possibly Ugyops sp.

Description:

Small hopper larvae (?) to 5mm body length. It just looked like dirt on a leaf, but on closer inspection it revealed a little hopper. Looks like he has a parasite on his back as well.

Habitat:

Spotted in forest on the slopes of Mt Pauanui, New Zealand

Notes:

The parasite is the larva of a dryinid wasp, quite possibly Bocchus thorpei - thank you for your feedback 'stho002'
