Southern Ringneck Snake

Diadophis punctatus punctatus

Description:

Non-venomous Adult about 10 inches with a black body and yellow, cream, or orange ring across the neck. While the belly is bright yellow, orange, or red with a single row of half-moon spots down the center. Feeds on small earthworms, slugs, frogs, anoles, geckos, skinks, snakes, and salamanders.

Habitat:

Pinewoods

Notes:

Found warming up on the road in my neighborhood at night.
