It is the durian season in Malaysia and Singapore now. May be imported from these countries.

Durian shell. Smell it. It may still have that "distinct" smell.

Part of some sort of fruit. Can you describe the habitat you found it in? If it was near a market or restaurants I'd put my money on some sort of exotic fruit like durian.
