Attracted to lights at a home in a rural town. Surrounding habitat is largely mixed deciduous and pine forest interrupted by agricultural fields.

Rarely, if ever, do these beetles attack healthy trees. Dead, dying, and severely-weakened trees are much more prone to attack.
