Description:

Two species of sorrel grow in south Sinai – R. cyprius (Pink Sorrel) and R. vesicarius (Indian Sorrel). Both are annual desert herbs with juicy, hairless stems and leaves. The flowers have 6 green petals. The fruits are winged, reddish in color, and veined.

Habitat:

spotted in a coastal desert wadi

Notes:

leaves are edible - and tasty, if a bit sour
