A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Lasiommata megera
The Wall or Wall Brown is a medium sized buff-orange butterfly; with a wingspan of some 45 to 50 mm. Upperwings are buff-orange with a network of brown lines; single eyespot on forewing, several smaller ones on hindwings
This is a Palearctic species, widespread and usually found on rocky ground, on forest edges, light woodland and grasslands. Here, observed on a dry rocky-and-grassland escarpment, dominating a large Skradin valley. The rich Skradin valley is close to Krka National Park, park itself enclosing a river forming several waterfalls and lakes, and surrounded by a lush broad leaved forest. However, this escarpment is much more arid, and covered by a vegetation adapted to prolonged arid conditions.
