Archduke Butterfly (Female)

Lexias pardalis

Description:

This butterfly had a wingspan of 3-4 inches wide. It has mostly black wings, with white spots dotted on it. The head and eyes are black, while the abdomen is striped black and white. The middle of the body is black with white spots, like the wings. Its antennas are pretty long and a bit orange colored at the tips.

Habitat:

I saw this butterfly at the Butterfly Garden in Changi Airport. It was currently resting on a pineapple. In there, it was cool and moist, but had a little sunlight. I spotted this butterfly at 4:00 PM.

Notes:

The abdomen of this butterfly was sticking out.
