Homoeocerus puncticornis & Coptosoma obtusiceps
Homoeocerus puncticornis (Burmeister, 1834) & Coptosoma obtusiceps Stål, 1871. When I took these pictures, today, in our front yard, my intention was to post separate spottings of each one, rather than show them both together. However, I was unable to take a picture of H. puncticornis without there being at least one and sometimes several C. obtusiceps close beside it. I then found out that it was impossible to crop out either species, to leave the other in the picture. Having seen the way in which they rub against each other when moving around and feed on their host plat, side-by-side, I realised that this cohabitation must surely be considered a "species interaction".
Spotted in our front yard on a Hyacinth bean (Lablab purpureus) locally called Bataw. Plant identification - http://www.stuartxchange.org/Bataw
