Chanterelle

Cantharellus sp.

Description:

Chanterelles are yellow, and they smell fruity. They are also white inside, and they pull apart like string cheese. Chanterelles also lack true gills. True gills are like plates or blades, but chanterelle "gills" are more like folds or wrinkles.

Habitat:

Conifer forest with douglas fir and hemlock.

Notes:

Chanterelles are a delicious edible mushroom. After I picked them, I ate them. They were delicious.
