Stigmochelys pardalis
This is likely an older leopard tortoise. They graze extensively on mixed grasses, succulents and thistles. These tortoises typically live 80-100 years. As of March 22, 2000, the US banned importation of the Leopard Tortoise.

Thanks, Aaron! :>)
I second your vote for older leopard tortoise. :-)
Thanks for the suggestion, Backyardphotographer 99. However, the Galapagos Tortoise is seen in the Galapagos islands and this is in urban Africa. I thought perhaps it was an older leopard tortoise that had lost some of its colorful markings (in my other spotting in which both tortoises could be seen), but I don't know enough about tortoises to tell.
