Zygodon conoideus
There are four very similar species of Zygodon: Z. conoideus, Z. viridissimus, Z. stirtonii and Z. rupestris. They are difficult to reliably distinguish from each other without checking under a microscope. Z. conoideus produces capsules more frequently than other Zygodon species, the seta of which is usually noticeably curved, whereas the setae of Z. viridissimus , and even more so Z. stirtonii, are straighter and slightly more robust.
Z. conoideus is the commonest member of the genus in humid woods in valleys. Spotted in an earthy slope of a path. Edge of a Holm and cork oak forest. Parque Nacional de Monfragüe
