Limonium cancellatum
Evergreen, 10-18 cm high, dense short hairy stems rigid and erect, branching already at the bottom, protruding almost at right-angles. Stems branch into numerous reticulate interwoven flowering and non-flowering branches. Violet flowers are formed on the basis of the number five, around 5 mm in diameter, gathered in blooms up to 2.5 cm long. Flowers between March and November. The fruit is a small nut, partly closed in a dry calyx.
Grows on rocky coasts and cracks in the rock in full sunshine next to the sea shore. Tolerates extremely high concentrations of salt.
