Description:

In the Family Tenebrionidae (darkling beetles). Pic 1 shows the stink beetle standing on its head and squirting a noxious spray. This is a defensive tactic to keep predators away.

Habitat:

Spotted on Saddle Mountain. Arid shrub-steppe.
