Feather-legged orb weaver

Uloborus sp.

Description:

This is another very minute species, a few mm's body length at best. It is also one of the only families of spider that does not develop venom glands. Instead it uses its silk to basically suffocate its victims through constriction.

Habitat:

Unsure as to regular habitat, but this one was found in some thin weeds behind a dumpster near downtown Ypsilanti, MI.

Notes:

I personally just love the ends of the front legs. They look like knitting needles. :)
