A coreopsis up to 3 feet tall with vivid yellow blooms in midsummer as much as 3 inches across. It's a perennial herb

Habitat:

Sandy or rocky slopes and hills. This one was photographed in a sandhills habitat at the Henderson Heritage Preserve in Aiken County, SC.

Notes:

It's also called Major coreopsis.
