Streptopelia decaocto
Larger then the Mourning Doves, these birds have a slash of black with white outline on the back of the neck and long squared off tail. Light chalky brown on most of the body with slightly darker shade on wings and tail, and darker wing tips. Small head and stocky body. Call is different then the cooing of the Mourning Dove. You can almost mistake it's call to an owl.
Like most urban doves and pigeons, can be found in many places. City parks, urban and rural areas. Prefers perching higher like wires or trees.
Spotted these in a neigborhood first on telephone poles and wires and then in a tree in someones front yard.
