Corymbia ficifolia

Corymbia ficifolia

Description:

Medium sized flowers and 'gumnuts' on a small tree self-sown at a local beachside. Although the pink is striking the red-green-yellow gumnuts stood out for me.

Habitat:

Bayside conservation reserve. In very sandy soil.

Notes:

Couldn't resist these colours. WA 'flowering gum' corymbia sp. "Corymbia...from Latin, corymbium, a "corymb" referring to floral clusters where all flowers branch from the stem at different levels but ultimately terminate at about the same level." - Corymbia "Summer Beauty" is a possible cultivar but this one sure didn't look planted.

One's imagination can do amazing things. Got any Nutmeg, a Lima bean, a Peanut maybe...actually the list is endless to come up with a head. Then you'll need some arms and some legs too. A spring of some sort, from a pen? lol.

Lovely flower!! thanks for sharing, Argy Bee.
