Meadow Fritillary Butterfly

Description:

Family: Nymphalidae. Subfamily: Heliconiinae. (Brushfoot family) A common fritillary butterfly in meadow flying low. Wingspan: 3.5 - 5.1 cm. Color: Upperside is orange with heavy black markings. Underside of hindwing patterned with orange and purple/brown. Hosts: Violets. Adult food: Nectar from dandelions and Black-eyed Susans to name a few.

Habitat:

Wet places/marshes/wet meadows.

Notes:

Found in lost file photo folder. This is my 50th "lost" photo I have found recently in an forgotten external hard drive. More presents for me!!!
