Tufted Vetch

Vicia cracca

Description:

Perennial plant belonging to pea family (Fabaceae), with climbing stems of some 1 to 1,5 m in length and blue flowers groupes in 15cm long racemes.

Habitat:

Edges of montane coniferous forests.

Notes:

Cow vetch produces many benefits in the wild - it is useful as forage crop for cattle; and thanks to its nectar, as a melliferous plant. Like other leguminous plants, thanks to its nitrogen-fixing properties, it enriches the soil; and it also helps in curbing the erosion.
