These moth is about 4 cm long and was found in a gas station close to the rainforest at Baeza and Cosanga. Amastus coccinator SCHAUS, 1901 Superfamily : NOCTUOIDEA Family : ARCTIIDAE subfamily : ARCTIINAE

Habitat:

Andean Rainforest in the slopes to the Amazon

Definitely an Amastus sp., but not Amastus coccinator, this one should have a darker red part between the orange stripes. It might be Amastus aloniae:

But it is not possible to ID this one without the native specimen:

There were quite a few newly detected species from Ecuador.
