Black Swan

Family Anatidae, Cygnus atratus

Description:

The extensive wetlands hosted numerous Black Swans. They are a first time sighting for me so it was special to see them in such large numbers. There were swans courting and also nesting. The parent spent a lot of time rearranging the reeds of the nest, and leaning over the edge of the nest and adding new material to the nest.

Habitat:

Wetlands behind Geographe Bay Western Australia
