Spotting

Description:

I found this near my house, it is red with this other leafs about to come out of it. There were many of these, it looked like there were many layers and it was also rough and smooth. The red thing is about 5cm long and about 2cm wide. The leaves are smooth on both sides and the steams are not too long.

I saw a lizard on it but sadly wan't quick enough to take a photo
