Amazon Molly

Poecilia formosa

Description:

The mouth is very pointed, and the tail is very rounded with a black tip. There are faint vertical stripes on the body.

Habitat:

They are found in fresh and brackish waters in southern Texas and Mexico.

Notes:

I was on a field trip sampling for fish. All the fish we caught were seined up, then we put them in buckets to look at them. The fish was only out of the water for a few seconds for us to take pictures, then were returned to the water when we were done.
