Kedah Gardenia

Gardenia tubifera

Description:

This plant was about 1 meter tall and seemed thick like a shrub. It produced bright golden flowers that has a diameter of about 6-7 cm. The petals were shiny and not that bendable. The leaves were about 8-10 cm long and 5-6 cm wide. Its petals seemed to look like a pinwheel. The flower's stigma is short and round and big. Its anthers are very short and tiny.

Habitat:

I spotted this plant in Singapore Botanic Gardens. The climate there was very moist and cool, because it just rained. The area where this plant was located was in a place where the it can get enough sunlight. I found it at 6:31 PM.

Notes:

Kedah Gardenia produces large, single golden yellow flowers, which change color, from ivory to golden-yellow, to orange yellow as they mature. Its fragrance is very strong and it grows slowly.
