Sperm Whale

Physeter macrocephalus

Description:

largest of the toothed whales, sperm whales breed year round in the deep waters just off the west coast of Dominica, multiple individuals in the photos, last photo is a mother and calf

Habitat:

Caribbean sea

Notes:

My first whale spotting ever! I was stoked to see at least 8 sperm whales during a 3 hour whalewatching tour, including a mother and a calf feeding. I was hoping to see some dolphins too but we only saw sperm whales.

Awesome, Dan! I've never seen sperm whales, would really love to though. These are amazing pictures, the water is so blue!
