Common Raven

Corvus corax


These common raven, a frequently seen bird on Alaska's Kenai Peninsula, were spotted in the parking lot of a local grocery store. They are opportunistic feeders and will eat carrion, small mammals, garbage, plants, and insects.


Ravens feature highly in the mythology of some Native Alaskan groups, including the Tlingit and Haida.
