Common House Spider (Orange)

Description:

These spiders (Parasteatoda sp.) are found in abundance here along the trail around Kinabalu Park. There are 2 color variation occurring among these spiders here - orange (like this spotting) and black (http://www.projectnoah.org/spottings/195...). About 8mm in length for this female. They will drop from their web when threatened, and lay motionlessly with their legs folded in to pretend it's dead. When it does that, it will looks like a small seed, further making other animals uninterested in it.

Habitat:

This species usually build tangled webs in or near human dwellings. These spiders that I have found built their webs under the wooden railings of Kinabalu Park, Kundasang, Sabah.

Notes:

>>>Map accuracy : 1km diameter.
