Phalacrocorax auritus floridanus
Not sure what kind of bird this is, we seem them commonly and they often "disappear" under water and reappear 20-30yards somewhere else. I think they "fly" under water. fun to watch. when they swim, their body is mostly under water and the only thing that usually sticks out of the water is their neck and head.

Nice series, Brian! I like the middle picture a lot!
Thanks everyone... that probably is it. Yes, from time to time I will see them on the sure drying themselves with wings outstretched.
thanks.
They do go great distance under water, their feathers are not like ducks as they don't repel water which helps the swim faster, and you will see them on rocks or branches air drying their wings. And that's why they don't look so bouyant as ducks.
Most likely a Double Crested Cormorant (Phalacrocorax auritus) since the most others are found on the coast. Double Crested can be found both on the coast and inland.
My thought would be that this is a cormorant. I can not be fully certain, simply because the bird is quite distant, in all your photos.
