Macaca nigra
This critically endangered species exists nowhere else but in the Tangkoko Reserve in Northern Sulawesi, Indonesia and in a few adjacent islands. It is unusual for a macaque in that it has ape-like characteristics. It is endemic to Sulawesi. This group of well over 20 individuals was spotted just off the beach area in Tangkoko Reserve.

You will notice a silver colouration to the fur, much like the alpha male of the Silverback gorilla!
