Northern Pearly-eye

Description:

A brown butterfly with "eyes" on its wings. This species can be mistaken as an Appalachian Brown. The Pearly-eye have more "scalloped" wings. A common species in Wisconsin. This species is found from June through August. Most are seen in July.

Habitat:

Forest in Stewart Park, Wisconsin. Woodlands, Forest Edges, and along streams.
