Campsomeris plumipes
This wasp is in the Family Scoliidae (Scoliid Wasps). It apparently likes flowers. Elongated abdomen with alternating black and cream colored bands.
Observed in an open area on a constructed pond dam. The flower is Southern Dewberry. This one was photographed at the stork ponds at the Silver Bluff Audubon Center near Jackson (Aiken County), SC.
Wonderful, Ken! I'm not too good with wasps, but this appears to be a match to me. I see you've put this on BugGuide. I've left my thoughts there, lets see what the experts think. :-)
