Large Maple Spanworm Moth

Description:

about 4 cm across, light brown with darker blotches, dark brown line across the middle of the wings, small tips on the ends of the upper wings and small tips/points on the lower wings, tiny dark dots on the upper wings, large collar/semi-circle of dark on upper wings around the head

Habitat:

Found between the bark of a Pine tree on an urban school campus

Notes:

not moving and had a piece of wing missing
