Plums and Custard

Tricholomopsis rutilans

Description:

You can see where the name comes from, as the mushroom is the color of custard with some plum coloration on the top of the cap. The stipe continues the coloration, though faded and also appears a bit scaly. Gills pale yellow. I only found one of these mushrooms in the forest on this day.

Habitat:

Mossy Sitka Spruce forest with little undergrowth other than mosses and occasional ferns.
