Euchrysops cnejus cnejus
Thanks Dominik. I'll follow the ID suggestion for now. I can edit it later if somebody could definitely give a 100% ID.
Hi Jolly! I am still not really happy with this 3rd spot, but I think Agnes is right with her ID!
Agnes, the three orange spots is the reason why I placed it as unknown spotting. Maybe somebody could nail its ID 100%.
I'll try to find out more. Thanks bayucca for looking into this. :)
Actually I kicked out Everes quite quickly, however, I re-checked it after your ID. Hmm, I am still not happy, but I don't think it is Everes, if we look at the base of the hindwing and the location of the orange spots: just next to the angle whereas in Everes is some additinal space to the angle of the hindwing. I think you are right with your ID although this additional orange spot still confuse me a little bit.
You're right bayucca.. It had me thinking also that this could be Everes lacturnus, but except for the orange marks, all the rest of the wing pattern point to a male Euchrysops cnejus - http://www.flmnh.ufl.edu/butterflies/neo....
I also looked for similar case of 3 orange marks within the genus and found one in an African site - http://www.fleetingwonders.com/butterfli.... The site described it as Euchrysops sp... The one existing in the Philippines is the ssp Euchrysops cnejus cnejus.
What do you think?
I was checking this one too and was confused by the 3 orange lunules whereas Euchrysops cnejus only has 2 orange spots. What do you think, Agnes??
