Hypholoma fasciculare
Found on my lawn last fall.
CorduneanuVlad is right about the greenish colour of H. fasciculare distinguishing it from it's look-alikes. I would however suggest that this is the more common look-alike H. capnoides, because H. sublateritium is said to have a more 'brick red' cap and also it's quite rare. H. capnoides is extremely common and a good match for this.
Thanks for the info and link CorduneanoVlad, I'll be sure to check and post when and if they pop back up this fall.
Here you can see this description http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hypholoma_s...
The way to spot which kind they are is to look at the gills: if they have a greenish color it's H. Fasciculare, if not, it's H. Sublaterium.
Thank you for the suggestion CorduneanuVlad. I think they more closely resemble the Sulphur Tuft - Hypholoma fasciculare variety. Everything I've read says both found near rotting wood yet these were in the center of my lawn with no wood near them.
