Eurasian Collared Dove

Streptopelia decaocto

Description:

These pictures show two Eurasian collared doves. They are recognized by the dark stripe on the neck, which looks sort of like a collar and contrasts with its chalky, light brown color. They are relatively large doves.

Habitat:

These birds were found in a grass field in a neighborhood in West Valley City, Utah. These birds are often found around cities and houses, where they have access to bird feeders and other sources for finding food and seeds.

Notes:

These birds, as shown in the picture, were in a pair and stayed together. Often, collared doves can be found in pairs or groups, especially when there is a good supply of food in that place.
