Green Heron

Butorides virescens maculata

Description:

relatively small; adult body length is about 44 cm (17"), for a bird that has green in its name, the green isn't that noticeable.

Habitat:

wetlands

Notes:

I spotted this near the coast near Picard. It was actually near a small, dirty stream behind a grocery store. I was looking for iguanas, with no luck, but spotted a few birds so it wasn't a total loss.
