Mealybug Destroyer (larvae)

cryptolaemus montrouzieri

Description:

This insect larvae is white with hair/tentacle like 'body parts' on it. This insect has a pair of antennae that are a bit hard to locate in these photos alongside with six legs. These mealybug destroyer larvae actually look a lot like actual mealybugs. When this larvae turns into an adult insect, it will look like a small ladybug with a fuzzy body. It will have an orange head and an orange spot on the tip of its abdomen. The thorax will be black. This larvae is actually faster than it looks and it occasionally hops around. At the longest point, this larvae is about 2 cm. At its widest point, it is about 1 cm.

Habitat:

I found this in a secondary rainforest in Singapore.
