A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Sea anemones are a group of water-dwelling, predatory animals of the order Actiniaria. They are named for the anemone, a terrestrial flower. Sea anemones are classified in the phylum Cnidaria, class Anthozoa, subclass Zoantharia.[1] Anthozoa often have large polyps that allow for digestion of larger prey and also lack a medusa stage.[2] As cnidarians, sea anemones are related to corals, jellyfish, tube-dwelling anemones, and Hydra.

Thank you so much Laura:)
Hi Wendy, I changed the category of this for you from Fish to Other. Sea anemones belong to the same group as jellyfish and corals, so they're not related to fish :) As for the actual ID... well, that's tricky! I'm so certain it's in the Urticina genus, and it bears striking resemblance to both the northern red anemone (http://tammat.com/CNIDARIANS/slides/Dahl...) and the sand-rose anemone (http://mw2.google.com/mw-panoramio/photo...)... they are variable species, and can have very white tentacles like this one, but you are way out of range on both of those! Hmm, I'll keep hunting ;)
