Purple-globe Clover

Trifolium alpestre

Description:

The purple-globe clover (Trifolium alpestre L., 1753) is a perennial herbaceous plant belonging to the family Fabaceae. It has the stem ascending, woody at the bottom with a single peep terminal from which between May and August blooms globular purple corolla surrounded by two leaves. The leaves are oblong-lanceolate together in threes, which gives its name to the genus of this plant, in fact trifolium. The plant grows in the mountain areas of Europe between 800 and 2000 m above sea level.
