Doris Longwing

Laparus doris

Description:

This is a polymorphic butterfly that can be seen in three different colours, It wasnt concerned about all the hummingbirds and tanagers flying around the same area and flew quite slowly and smoothly between flowers making it easy to photograph. They are classed as unpalatable so this is probably why.

Habitat:

Seen in the grounds of Asa Wright nature centre, Trinidad. Its range varies from Mexico south through to the Amazonian region.
