Boschniakia rossica
Parasitic plant with maroon flowers. They do not contain chlorophyll, so they are obligate parasites (holoparasites). They resemble a pinecone from afar, hence the name. Very plentiful in the summer here and the blackened, dead flower stalks persist well into winter.
