Morelia spilota mcdowelli
About 1.5m long
Wet tropical
This lovely baby python was hanging from a palm frond over my bird feeder on the front patio. I live near Tolga, Queensland, Australia. It was roughly 1.5m long and I didn't think it was big enough to catch and eat anything larger than a frog or mouse, but I was surprised when it caught a peaceful dove and actually swallowed it.

PS The scientific name for Coastal Carpets is Morelia spilota mcdowelli. http://www.wildlifeqld.com.au/Coastal_Ca...
Amazing! You might consider adding the story into the Notes section of your spotting with an intro line like 'Series of a baby carpet python eating a peaceful dove at my bird feeder'. It's sure to attract some interest!! : )

Hi Heather, welcome to Project Noah! This is an incredible series. Can you tell us a bit more about where you saw it?
