Bucephala albeola
Small attractive birds with the male having an iridescent dark blue to green head with a very distinctive white cap. The upper body is black with the sides that are a brilliant white. The hen has a mostly dark brown to black body with small white circles on each cheek. At a distance the hen may resemble the Common Goldeneye.
Lakes, rivers and ponds
These birds are interesting and relatively easy to identify because of the brilliant white field marks.
