Spotting

Description:

This is a termite mound, a little different from normal ones that are built up from the ground, this one appears to be in sort of layers and attached to the tree. This one was about 1 metre high and 30cm across.

Habitat:

Seen in open woodland on the side of a tree, along the road to Katavi NP.

Notes:

These were very common in this area, and many of them were 2 or 3 times this size. I have not seen these in the more arid areas. I am not sure though if they are termites or ants.
