A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Phallus indusiatus
7-9" tall, in a cluster of four, pure white veil (sometimes they are colored) and extremely smelly, like something large, long dead, and attracts flies. The cap is slimy, and there is a round hole in the top center.
These popped up beside my walkway, in disturbed soil, twice over an 8-month period. Surrounding area is rainforest trees and underbrush, including palms, vines and other trees I can't identify yet.
These have a horrendous stink, but their beauty more than makes up for it. Great conversation piece! There is a fly on the cap of the lower left mushroom in my photo.

Congratulations! Fantastic spotting!!
Thanks, all of you! And yes, I will continue posting. I have for years been looking for something useful to do with all the wildlife photos I can't resist taking, and living in Belize I have little creatures offering themselves up almost daily for "sharing!" So it's a real pleasure to share them with you.
This is so awesome!!! The veil looks like chicken wire or plastic or something. Remarkable.

Thanks, guys! At first I was looking for a dead body (rat, coati, anything!) then I spotted these. Glad you like them.
Brilliant to see them with the full veil.
Very pretty.
