Columbia Spotted Frog

Rana luteiventris

Description:

Approx 4 - 5 inches long, lateral folds down both sides from eye, bumpy skin, black blotches, slight red colouring on parts of legs, hmmmm ?!

Habitat:

PNW temperate rainforest in a very mossy patch of underbrush of salal and other native plants. Not near a pond, but very moist everywhere. Lots of rain here.

Notes:

I have linked the BC Frogwatch page here in case someone can help me ID this amphibian. Introduced or native? it does not have the large tympanum behind the eye that bullfrogs and green frogs have, unless it is just covered in the forest debris.

I am happy to learn that this is a native frog to BC. 😀👍

Thanks Ashley! The reason I didn't settle on Columbia Spotted frog is that my spotting is slightly out of range for that species. But everything else seems "spot" on. 😀👍
