A worldwide community photographing and learning about wildlife
Peromyscus truei
This is a pretty typical white-footed mouse except for the huge ears which are so thin they are nearly transparent. It is amazing it can live in the shrubby undergrowth without ripping them to shreds.
Madrone/Oak/Ponderosa woodland, with lots of poison oak and underbrush, in the Siskiyou Bioregion. Semi-arid summers.
The cat caught several of these inside his fenced-in enclosure, and released them in the house, often in good condition. I would live-trap them and take them back outside, which gave me an opportunity to photograph them.

Thank you all so much for your lovely comments. I am thrilled and grateful that my photos were chosen, and hope I can continue to help out here at NOAH. This is a terrific site, and I have learned an incredible amount with every spotting I post. I am SO delighted to have found a place to share the wonderful things I see in this world!

Lovely spotting Irene. Thanks for sharing it.
Your spotting has been nominated for the Spotting of the Week. The winner will be chosen by the Project Noah Rangers based on a combination of factors including: uniqueness of the shot, status of the organism (for example, rare or endangered), quality of the information provided in the habitat and description sections. There is a subjective element, of course; the spotting with the highest number of Ranger votes is chosen. Congratulations on being nominated!
My pleasure, Antonia!
