Description:

Has no segements on abdomen and the entire body is covered in easily visible hair.

Notes:

In the first picture the ant is taking a seed from the Erodium genus back to the colony. The last two images have a Harvester Ant going into its anthill and another one's antenna peeking out in the 3nd one.

There are over 70 species of ants in California. They are hard to ID. There is a site for ID but the expert who created it IDs the ants by face first.
