Coprinellus disseminatus
Tiny mushroom, not exceeding 1,5cm in diameter of the cap, and approx 2 cm maximum of height, and growing in rather large colonies. Here, observed on a dead log, growing as a relatively small colony. Caps are pleated and cream whitish when really young, becoming pale grey later on, and flatten with maturity. Does not produce ink. Stem is thin and hollow.
This inkcap is described as a truly cosmopolitan mushroom, reported on every continent (except Australia ?????). It usually grows in massive colonies on stumps in forests. Here, found in a beautiful Bagasse forest (deciduous, predominantly oak, forest) on France-Switzerland border, in a valley of lake Geneva, just in between Jura and Alps mountains ranges; and observed as a relatively small colony on a long-decaying tree stump all covered by mosses.
